Tara the Troubadour
Singer - Songwriter - Musician
Born in Switzerland of a Swiss father and American mother, Tara Sufiana has lived most of her life in the U.S.A., with intermittent travels abroad. A 12-year odyssey took her through Europe and the Middle East, including five years in Egypt, where Tara lived among the Sufis, immersing herself in their mystical practices, music and dance. Egyptian Dervish music in Arabic is part of her musical repertoire.
As a troubadour, Tara has performed in thirty countries. Venues include: concerts, television, folk festivals, hotels, nightclubs, art exhibits, churches, schools, and a United Nations Conference.
Writing and composing most of the songs she sings, most of Tara's songs are in English, but she also sings in several other languages. Carving her home out of the wilderness in the Coastal Range Mountains of Northern California has inspired many songs that have come as gifts in the silence and beauty.
Tara Sufiana is available for public performances; either alone, accompanying herself with guitar and ankle bells, or with other musicians of merit.
